How Accurate is Information from Zillow and Trulia?
If you've been following the news at all recently, you already know that internet home search giant Zillow has bought their biggest competitor, Trulia, for $3.5 billion. What are the impacts of that merger? Well, Zillow and Trulia are just information sites, they have the same information that you can access on any number of other home search websites. These sites can be helpful, but aren't the magic answer to all your home search needs.
We have had plenty of clients call us in the past regarding specific listings that they have found on Zillow and Trulia, and frankly, the information isn't the most accurate. A lot of houses for sale on their sites are not for sale anymore. Remember, this is an advertising site at its core.
Whatever information these sites can give you, a Realtor can do it better.They know the market, market trends, and what homes are actually for sale at the current time. Why would you want to leave money on the table when the market is on a downswing? You won't have that information unless you work with a local Realtor and what's happening in the local market impacts the money you have in your pocket.
